There are excellent beaches all over the
island, but here are some details on a few.
Smuggler's Cove is highly recommended. It is a secluded beach with a
seemingly abandoned Havana-style building used as the backdrop for the
film "The Old Man and The Sea" with Anthony Quinn. In the bar
is the rusting hulk of Queen Elizabeth's convertible used during her
visit. A bar/restaurant serves excellent food and drink. Excellent snorkeling too!
Long Bay. West End, is home to the Long Bay Beach
Resort. The beach at the far end is good for body surfing.
Apple Bay, the surfing/booqie-board beach (mostly during the winter),
is 'home of the surfer's bar Bomba Shack, world famous for its monthly "Full-Moon" party.
Apple Bay along with Carrot Bay are wonderfully warm, small fishing communities.
Cane Garden Bay Beach is the most famous British Virgin islands beach.
It is a gently curving beach and popular anchorage with water sports,
restaurants, and bars, Conde Nast’s Traveler named Cane Garden
Bay one of the most “picturesque beaches in the world.” The
best snorkeling is al the right side of the boat dock. You can also rent
power boats, windsurfers, kayaks, sail bikes, beach chairs and snorkeling
gear.
Brewer's Bay is a lush, tropical bay with two beach bars and great snorkeling
on the far left or far right side of beach. Brewers Bay is great for
a morning or late afternoon swim and is a very quiet beach.
Josiah's Bay on the north shore near East End has a dramatic empty beach
but is not good for snorkeling.
